Digital PR | Google Plus

Google is constantly changing and refining their search algorithm and the way they display search results. The fact that Google now includes social content from Google Plus makes it imperative to use this platform for PR content.

When you do a search on Google, if there is relevant content in Google Plus, instead of ads on the right hand side you will see a list of “People and pages in Google Plus.”   How can you get your page to show up there?

  1. Optimize your profile with the words and phrases you want to rank for.
  2. Add keywords to the introduction, employment and education fields.
  3. Post quality content about your chosen interest and keywords
  4. Write original content – don’t just make re-post or make remarks.
  5. Add value and get people thinking..
  6. Post regularly- every day if possible
  7. Use the * feature to create a bold headline for each post.
  8. Write a short headline with keywords – *Digital PR Trends in 2012*
  9. Add photos and videos.
  10. Make a list of 20 high profile thought leaders in your field who are on Google Plus
  11. Add them to a relevantly named circle.
  12. Share and comment on their posts
  13. Focus on one thought leader until they add you to their circles.
  14. Repeat until you have all twenty connected to you and engaged with you.  Make a new list and do it again.
  15. The more quality content you create, and the more people that engage with you, the more prominent your profile will become.
